Our take: Glamorous, recognizable and considerably more fun than dressing as a generic witch for the tenth year in a row.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being a witch for Halloween.
In fact, we're pretty sure the witch has earned permanent Halloween status.
But if you're going to do it, you might as well lean into it. Think dramatic black, flowing fabric, a great hat and enough attitude to make people wonder whether you actually arrived from another century.
Our take: Classic Halloween, but make it a little more fabulous.
3. The Vampire 🧛
For the person who wants their Halloween costume to feel like an actual costume, Dracula delivers.
Black, dramatic, slightly theatrical and completely committed to the assignment.
This is the kind of costume that works particularly well if you're going to an adult Halloween party and don't want to spend the evening explaining what you're supposed to be.
Our take: Old-school Halloween drama. We approve.

Basically, everything we thought was fashionable in the 1980s and some things we desperately hoped would stay there.

Our take: Bonus points if you still have the moves.
7. The Couples Costume: Plug & Socket 🔌
We couldn't make a Halloween list without including a couples costume.
And this one is...well...quite literally a match.
The plug-and-socket costume is silly without being complicated, which is exactly what you want from a couples costume. One person wears the plug, the other wears the socket, and suddenly everyone understands the assignment.
Our take: Cheesy? Absolutely. Effective? Also absolutely.

We have questions.
Mostly: Why is the pickle costume so popular?
But with more than a thousand reviews and an Amazon's Choice badge, we're clearly missing something.
Maybe it's the simplicity. Maybe it's the fact that nobody expects to see a giant pickle walk into a Halloween party.
Either way, we have to respect it.

Okay. This one deserves its own category.
You know those inflatable tube people outside businesses that wildly wave their arms around in the wind?
Someone turned one into a Halloween costume.
And more than 2,000 Amazon shoppers have apparently said, Yes. I would like to wear that.
Honestly?
We respect the commitment.
Our take: The wild card. And possibly the costume most likely to make everyone at the party laugh before you've even said hello.
10. The Scarecrow 🌾
After all the bananas, pickles and inflatable chaos, we thought we'd finish with something a little more traditional.
The scarecrow.
It's classic Halloween without being overdone, and it's easy to personalize with your own boots, makeup and accessories.
Add a little messy hair, some dramatic makeup and you're ready for a night in the pumpkin patch — or, you know, someone's backyard.
Our take: Simple, recognizable and wonderfully autumnal.
